Need for PHA INSPECTION SYSTEM

To ensure the quality of housing provided, Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) have a need to INSPECT both Public Housing & Rent Assistance Housing. PHAs determine Inspection Schedules, Assign to Inspectors, Collect Data in the Field, & Report on Inspection Activities. Many PHAs use Paper INSPECTION FORMS which are cumbersome to complete & require manual data entry of information.

An Automated Inspection System - PHAinspect - streamlines, organizes, & simplifies daily Inspections operations. PHAinspect saves both time & money in processing information needed in the Housing Inspection operation. It has been successfully field proven in fulfilling the Housing Inspection requirements of both the PHAs & HUD.

The system allows for scheduling & tracking inspections necessary for either Public Housing Units or Rent Assistance Housing. The addresses can be downloaded into a Pen-based computer used in the field. Inspection data can be entered using the HUD 52580 form format or your own custom format. Inspection data is entered in a streamlined manner saving Inspector time & improving accuracy of data. Inspection data is automatically uploaded & updated in your PHA software.

Specifications

The current version of SPECTRA Home will run on a Pentium IV with 256MB of RAM  PC running Windows XP Workstation or above. It requires approximately 10 MB for the software & about 20 MB for the data files (the size of the data files will vary depending upon the amount of Inspection data). Microsoft Office can be used to integrate with MS Excel & Word. The handheld software requires a Windows Mobile unit with at least 64MB RAM. A Flash card is recommended for backing up the handheld data.
