Recently, the Service Pro team attended the fall session of the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) organization. The EGSA organization is a powerful group of innovative and knowledgeable individuals who care about the power industry. They host their members, partners, and other industry professionals twice a year where the power industry and its future is the focus of discussion. This group is made up of Manufacturers, Distributors, Integrators, Consultants, Service Organizations, Technology Providers, and many others.
The fall session included impactful speakers (such as Reggie Jackson & Robert Bryce), great learning opportunities around topics that are impacting the power industry, and networking opportunities for like-minded members to drive progress and innovation in this space..
A few takeaways worth sharing with you all:
- The power industry has never been more relevant and more focus needs to be put on shared, innovative discussions with each other – together, we are better!
- The future of the power industry is evolving with a major push towards automation and remote monitoring becoming more important than ever.
- There is not a shortage of topics to discuss, content to deliver to the masses, and learning to be had. Supporting the growth and enablement of engineers and technicians is a need that has to be delivered on.
- *BONUS* – EGSA hosts both a Basic & Advanced school for individuals that are new to the power industry or that want to advance their knowledge.
From an event perspective, this was one of the most impactful conferences I’ve attended in the field service management space. They range from intimate (think < 100 attendees) to very large (think 10s of thousands of attendees) and the conference provided value for all groups. From the exciting keynotes, to the impactful educational sessions, to the fun networking activities, the mix was perfect. With the focus EGSA puts on making this beneficial to attendees and the idea that “if someone isn’t leaving a session or the event with exciting takeaways and immediate actions it missed the mark,” shows the focus is right.
