6 Field Service Industry Resources You should be Thankful for this Year

This Thanksgiving, we want to recognize those educational resources that keep us on our toes and on the top of our service game. Thanks for all you do!

Sometimes we get so caught up in our own lives and solving our own company’s problems that we forget to acknowledge the work others do that helps us get where we are. This Thanksgiving, we want to thank some of our favorite field service industry resources who give us the tips, news, and research to help us run better, more profitable businesses.

For more lists of resources and tools to help you run your business, check out our Service Industry Lists resource page.

This isn’t an exhaustive list by any means, but it’s a good start.

The Field Service Blog, geared toward field service leaders and managers, posts articles about mobility, integration, preventive services, and tips on how to bridge the talent gap. It also posts interviews, trends in the industry, and Q&A.

Why we love it: Field Service Blog is so in tune with the field service industry and its needs and trends, it was a no-brainer to include in this list. With subcategories in Revenue, Mobility, Integration, Preventative, Talent, and Enhanced Content, there’s no shortage of segmented content to inform whatever area of service you want to improve.

Field Service Business (FSB) is an Australian-based resource, which provides senior-level service and support professionals with an easy-to-access, readily available source of information, crucial to gaining valuable insight into developments, trends and new technology in the sector.

Why we love it: Field Service Business is loaded with educational articles about the field service industry with a targeted focus on technology, specifically mobility. FSB’s media channel provides daily resources in addition to its digital and print magazine which highlights who’s saying what about the industry and features top systems and tools to improve your field service operations.

The Service Council is a community for service managers and executives to share best practices and other field service insights that aim to help them add value to and improve their services.

Why we love it: The Service Council Blog is a high-level resource for upper management at service organizations with articles about technology integrations and business best-practices. We’re thankful for its research-backed information and expert perspectives on some of field services’ most complex and challenging issues.

The Service Coach blog offers content about some of the most difficult service problems including advice on marketing for contractor, HVAC, and plumbing industries.

Why we love it: Everyone loves a good coach. That’s why we’re thankful for Service Coach, which provides practical business advice for everything from the newest technology tools to best social media practices to grow your service business.

Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA) is organized around six major service disciplines: customer success and support, education services, field service, managed services, professional services, and service revenue generation. While broad, TSIA provides a technology focus to solving a variety of service needs.

Why we love it: TSIA is a great organization for businesses in service and its blog, “Inside Technology Services,” is an awesome, free resource for service orgs. With plenty of service ground to cover, it provides information to help organizations maximize service revenue, optimize service margins, innovate the services model, and drive product sales. For service organizations, ever-searching for ways to improve operations, what’s there not to love?

Field Technologies Online is a go-to resource for field service professionals investigating their options in service management and mobile software for their field workforce.

Why we love it: We love Field Technologies because of its consistency, industry prestige, and wealth of practical information. As the service industry depends more and more on advancements in technology, resources like Field Technologies, with a decided focus in addressing the latest technology advancements, will continue to grow in popularity.

Happy Holidays! Keep up the good work in 2015!
